The You
The You were Josh Verbanets on guitars, vocals and songwriting duty, Adam Rousseau on bass and Rich Kawood on drums, although the band was primarily Josh’s solo project, with him sometimes recording demo’s in his basement and playing all the instruments himself or playing with session musicians.
The band’s sound has been described as alternative folk with some 60s pop and rock influence in there too.
The band first came to the attention of the Pure Tone record label after impressing talent scouts from the label at an audition in Pittsburgh.
They were signed to the label where they were assigned producer Brian Deck (Modest Mouse, Iron & Wine) to help compile their debut album. Josh was at this point relocated to various states and holed up in studios with Brian, where along with various session musicians they recorded a batch of songs for inclusion on the album.
The album was eventually released, using Josh's basement recordings and various studio recordings to make up a whole album.
Josh decided to disband the group soon after the album was released after artistic differences with the label.
He now plays with his new band Meeting Of Important People and plays bass for Lohio. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
